Studio Policy

Updated January 2016

Welcome to the Colorado School of Music! Our goal is to be your choice for music education in the community. We offer weekly private lessons for instruments and voice in a variety of styles. All ages and experience levels are welcome.

Lesson Fees:

– We offer 1/2 hour and hour lessons once a week. Lesson times are reserved on a monthly basis.

  • 1/2 hour monthly rate: $112 (4 weeks @ $28 per lesson) ($140 for 5wk month)
  • hour monthly rate: $224 (4wk month @ $56 per lesson)  ($280 for 5wk month)

– Lesson fees for the month are due in full on the first lesson day of each month. This is to ensure that your spot will be reserved. We accept cash, personal checks and automatic checks from financial institutions. Please make checks payable to Colorado School of Music.
– If payment has not been made by the 20th of each month, a late fee of $8.00 will be assessed and studio availability cannot be guaranteed.

Missed Lessons:

Time is the only commodity we sell. In order to maintain our reasonable rates, we must charge for all time reserved, whether or not the student is in attendance. Additional time can be reserved at the rate of $28 per ½ hour (subject to instructor availability).
– Tuition is never prorated for missed lessons.
– For any lessons missed by an instructor, the School will attempt to provide a substitute teacher. If an instructor cancels and a substitute is not available, you will not be charged.

Discontinuing Lessons:

– Once you have reserved your time slot, your account will be charged on the first lesson day of each month. Your time slot will remain reserved month-to-month unless we are notified of discontinuance.
– to discontinue lessons and to discontinue charges to your account, fill out the withdrawal form and return before the 15th of your last month. We do not prorate tuition for the last month’s lessons. Students will be responsible for their last month’s tuition whether or not they attend lessons.
– Please sign the attached Discontinuance Agreement and keep the Notice of Discontinuance for yourself.

ACH Payment Agreement:

– All students are required to fill out an ACH payment agreement including a valid Visa or Master Card credit/debit card number to be kept in case of non-pay.
– Monthly tuition is due on the first lesson day of each month. If we have not received your payment by the 20th of the month, your account will be automatically charged for the month’s balance plus an $8.00 late fee. ACH payments will occur only in case of non-pay.

Care of Students:

– The School is not responsible for providing before or after care for students. We encourage children to wait inside the school to be picked up. The CSoM assumes no responsibility for children who leave unaccompanied.

Injuries:

– Parents, Legal Guardians of minors, students and adult students waive the right to any legal action for any injury sustained on school property resulting from normal lesson activity or any other activity conducted by students or their siblings before, during, or after lesson time, including hearing loss or damage.

Open Door Policy:

– Parents are always welcome to sit in on lessons.

Snow Closures:

– In the event of a snow closure, The Colorado School of Music will post an announcement on our website: www.coloradoschoolofmusic.com the morning of the day in question to announce the closure. If the school closes due to snow, your account will be credited for the next month. Due to our large schedules we don’t make personal calls regarding snow days, so please check the website when in doubt.

Holiday Breaks:

Our music school will be closed during New Year’s Day (1st of the Year), Memorial Day (last Monday in May), Independence Day (the 4th of July), Labor Day (first Monday in September), Thanksgiving (4th Thursday and Friday in November), and Winter Break (last two weeks of December). Note – No tuition is due for these dates.

Thank you for choosing the Colorado School of Music. If there is anything we can do to better satisfy your needs, please feel free to let us know. We will be happy to assist you in any way we can. If you have any questions or concerns please contact us at 303-526-9865.
