Studio Policy

Updated January 2016

Welcome to the Colorado School of Music! Our goal is to be your choice for music education in the community. We offer weekly private lessons for instruments and voice in a variety of styles. All ages and experience levels are welcome.

Lesson Fees:

– We offer 1/2 hour and hour lessons once a week. Lesson times are reserved on a monthly basis.

  • 1/2 hour monthly rate: $160 (4 weeks @ $40 per lesson) ($200 for 5wk month)
  • hour monthly rate: $320 (4wk month @ $80 per lesson)  ($400 for 5wk month)

– Lesson fees for the month are due in full on the first lesson day of each month. This is to ensure that your spot will be reserved. We accept cash, personal checks, automatic checks from financial institutions and Google Pay with the app. Please make checks payable to Colorado School of Music.
– If payment has not been made by the first lesson of each month, a late fee of $10.00 will be assessed and studio availability cannot be guaranteed.

Missed Lessons:

Time is the only commodity we sell. In order to maintain our reasonable rates, we must charge for all time reserved, whether or not the student is in attendance. Additional time can be reserved at the rate of $40 per ½ hour (subject to instructor availability).
– Tuition is never prorated for missed lessons.
– For any lessons missed by an instructor, the School will attempt to provide a substitute teacher. If an instructor cancels and a substitute is not available, you will not be charged.

Discontinuing Lessons:

– Once you have reserved your time slot, your account will be charged on the first lesson day of each month. Your time slot will remain reserved month-to-month unless we are notified of discontinuance.
– To discontinue lessons and to discontinue charges to your account, please notify us by calling 303-526-9865 or by email: info@coloradoschoolofmusic.com by the 15th of your last month. We do not prorate tuition for the last month’s lessons. Students will be responsible for their last month’s tuition whether or not they attend lessons

Care of Students:

– The School is not responsible for providing before or after care for students. We encourage children to wait inside the school to be picked up. The CSoM assumes no responsibility for children who leave unaccompanied.

Injuries:

– Parents, Legal Guardians of minors, students and adult students waive the right to any legal action for any injury sustained on school property resulting from normal lesson activity or any other activity conducted by students or their siblings before, during, or after lesson time, including hearing loss or damage.

Open Door Policy:

– Parents are always welcome to sit in on lessons.

Snow Closures:

– The Colorado School of Music will post an announcement on our website: www.coloradoschoolofmusic.com the morning of the day in question to announce the closure.

– In the event of a snow closure, instructors will be teaching lessons online via FaceTime, zoom of skype at the normal lesson time. When in doubt please check the website: www.coloradoschoolofmusic.com
